Note I wish to use a more respected antispyware program’s real-time protection instead and I know it’s not a good idea to run more than one anti-spyware program with real-time protection switched on.

go to Anti-virus | Main and select Advanced Options. In Advanced Options, go to Scan Options and deselect the check box that says “Enable extended database”.
