Protection from Spyware, Adware, Spyware Trojans, Keyloggers, Identity Theft, Hijackers, Tracking Threats, Rogue Anti-Spyware, Unwanted Software, Phishing, Popups and Bad Websites. You can also download it instantly instead of ordering the cd. I got mine at [...] You have to download it then run the install which is a demo version. If you like it you can purchase the full version on their secure online page and they will email you instantly with the registration number. Once you get that, it unlocks the full version. Highly recommended software.

I’m surprised I don’t see Spyware Doctor everywhere after buying it myself. I’ve dropped AVG after it got to where it chugged all my computers to a halt all while being essentially helpless against everything on the internet and falsely identifying as hostile (and deleting) my own stuff. Spyware Doctor w/Antivirus, although not as fast as the regular Spyware Doctor for obvious reasons, is still not too resource hungry, will get out of my way when I want it to, and blocks even the mildest of irritants. It even cuts off alot of non-malicious advertising to take some distractions out of surfing. It will occassionally offer to block something that you will want to leave alone, like youtube add-ins, but at least it prompts when there’s a question about it instead of assuming.
As far as actually stopping virii, it’s helped me out where AVG failed to get rid of the False Alerts virus that’s plagued the internet the last year, and it found over a hundred other trojans and nasties that AVG left behind. I still keep Malware Bytes around just in case, but I have yet to need since getting this software.
Last but not least, getting three licenses with each purchase is great. A lot of people today have a laptop and several desktops in the house, and this saved me plenty of money.
Overall very pleased; I’ve used AVG, Norton, McAfee, Avira, and Trend Micro, and this software is so far the best i’ve tried.

I used the PC Tools Spyware Doctor software from Symantec for 6 months and then had a product update from symantec that broke the application so I could no longer get updates for the antivirus software database. After 3 months and efforts to get tech support from symantec for Spyware Doctor I am still with a broken application and any attempt to update the anti-virus update I get the message “error while unpacking product, code LP5″ and the update fails.
Considering all the free spyware applications available I expected to get some level of support from Symantec for their PC Tools Spyware Doctor but was in error. Pay your money and hope that the application works for the year of use you are buying (need to keep paying and paying year after year) – but if Symantec fails to provide the support and the application leaves you vulnerable you really have no recourse.
I am switching to the open source ClamWin for my Windows PC. It is free and the support is better than I have gotten from Symantec.

Spyware Doctor found several viruses that Nortons failed to find. I had a major virus on my PC that kept coming back after Nortons got rid of it, Spyware was the only thing that worked. It has an option to do a partial scan which takes roughly 15 minutes and a full scan that takes roughly an hour. You can also program to have a full auto scan once a week. This program is well worth the price.
