ESET solved daily crashes and terrible slowness on a computer that ran like a champ until my former anti-virus reportedly crippled it. This isn’t my first rodeo. Over many years I’ve used Norton, McAffee, and Kaspersky, amongst others. Without getting into why I fired Norton and McAffee, I used Kaspersky for at least three years on three computers. Finally, my primary computer, an XP Pro with major processor speed came to its knees shortly after I installed Service Pack 3. Try as I might, I couldn’t cure the problem. After several months of daily crashes and unbelievably slow operation, I took the computer to the local specialists expecting to spend big bucks. Imagine my surprise when they charged me next to nothing to remove Kaspersky and install ESET. I was told that ESET has solved similar problems for many of their customers. Sure, this thing costs more than its competitors but it does what it’s supposed to do: it protects your computer and never lets you know that it’s there. Buy it and don’t look back!

I am a current registered user of ESET NOD32 Antivirus V3.0.650, which is a reasonably decent product. When I upgraded to their V4, CPU utilization pegged at 100% during in-depth scans, rendering my computer unusable. My e-mail request for assistance to their customer service department was ignored. I restored V3.
You might want to wait until ESET fixes their V4 utilization problems before installing V4.

If you are tired of bloated security programs then this one is for you. ESET has had a 100% positive record of no false positives and uses very few resources.

I am using NOD32 version 4 on a 64 bit Vista machine and it works well for me. Some of the complaints earlier reviewers had are legit but I believe are fixed. Is working well for me

I am a brand new user of ESET NOD32 v.4 on my HP Touchsmart tablet (64 bit) with Vista Home Premium. It loaded and ran as quickly and easily as anything I have loaded on this platform. I bought it partly because [...] claims it runs the lightest (uses least system resources) of anything comparable and is one of the best in virus detection.
I do not understand the problems some others on this forum have described. This package is everything I had hoped for. I have used an earlier version of Norton which would slow my system to a crawl whenever it operated, which usually seemed to be whenever I was in the middle of something important. More recently I was using last year’s version of McAfee Antivirus with its user interface that seemed as though it were designed to annoy as much as possible. NOD32 has none of these problems. You can specify the update schedule and the scan schedule, and best of all, you can have it scan in the background at a low priority (why didn’t anyone think of that before?!). I can now play DVD’s on my tablet while scanning files and not know the difference (I tried it just to see if it would work). As far as I am concerned, there are no drawbacks to this product.
